Dean James started performing at three, encouraged by his grandfather Doug Montgomery, who taught him guitar and introduced him to the country music that still shapes his sound. Raised in Peterborough, Ontario, he took that foundation to Nashville in 2015 and spent a year playing Broadway at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge.
With a raspy voice and an instinct for a live crowd, Dean brings classic country influences into songs that feel like his own. His career has taken him to Whiskey Jam, Bus Call and the Havelock Country Jamboree, with appearances alongside Meghan Patrick and The Road Hammers.
His catalogue has passed 1.5 million global streams, and in 2025 he took the Burned It Down tour across Canada. His songs carry classic country storytelling into a contemporary country-rock sound.
